Self-photography tip: don't say "cheese" say "prune"

| | Comments (8)

Another one of those ideas out of nowhere. I saw a young woman blow a Marilyn Monroe-style kiss at a friend in a car a few years ago -- you know, the extremely sexy-looking pouty-lipped kiss you make by pushing out your lips and saying "prune" under your breath. (No kidding, it was allegedly Monroe's trade secret. Try it in the mirror, it really works.)

From my extended "Shower" photoset on Flickr.

[Note: I'm obviously not demonstrating the "prune" technique in this image. --fl]

No, can't tell if you are saying prune. But it's something to try - should I ever try to include my face in my personal pictures. And so is that "Irish Spring" soap?

[Good eye, Rosie! I think it is Irish Spring. Happy St. Pat's. --fl]

Thanks for the "prune" tip.

[You're welcome, LBB. --fl]

Appparently saying "poem" will compose a sedate sort of smile. I get my kids to say "fungus" for a cheesy grin :) I'm going to give prune a go.
Nice pic Fig - god I love shower pics...

[Thanks, Ell. You've taken some lovely ones. --fl]

Sat "colourful prune" and it looks like you're saying "I love you".

Heh.

[Ok, I'm going to have to try that too. Thanks, Minx. --fl]

Despite the fact that you have become a shameless tease, I must thank you for the lovely picture.

[Sorry about that, Kochanie. I'm actually less shameless and more shy about getting *too* full-frontal. Let me know if I should recrop this. --fl]

Don't change a thing, Figleaf. The picture is very fine.

My husband is sound asleep. The cat is sound asleep. I want to be asleep, but I have too much paperwork that must get done.

Ever notice how middle-age fatigue and loneliness ends up sounding like morality?

[Excellent point, Kochanie. That and the other thing I've noticed is that young people tend to confuse their elders' ironic humor for received wisdom. :-) I'm pretty confident Queen Victoria was beside herself when she said "lie back and think of England." Too bad everyone else saw it as a royal proclamation. --fl]

hmm maybe I should try that for my next HNT ^_~

[Cool, it's about time we had an anonymous lips HNT week. Thanks, Shay. --fl]

Holy hello, this is one amazing photo!

Prune, prune, I think my lips are ready now....

[Cool! Thanks, Mona. --fl]
