HNT - No shirt, no shoes, no service?

| | Comments (21)

Ever see those "no shirt, no shoes, no service" signs in restaurants and bars? They've always seemed to miss the point a little.

I'm just sayin'

Happy HNT (or Half-nekkid Thursday!)

HHNT!!!

[Heh. Thanks, Ag. And happy HNT to you too. --fl]

The beautifully ironed shirt, polished shoes, not to mention the lovely asking-for-attention body are all duly noted. But then as usual I am diverted by irrelevancy and wonder about the squashed insect/smudge at the top left. Is it on the wall? It's not my screen - I've checked.

[It's an unused bedroom in an old house and that's an old picture-hanger. Hope it wasn't too distracting. :-) Thanks, A. --fl]

Lol... I don't mind your literal interpretation at all.

Nice shoes!

[Thank you, Madame. To be honest I think I've only worn them once... I mean... *square toes?* What's next, big buckles, and buckled hats to complete the "Mayflower" look? :-) --fl]

Classic HNT, Fig! Funny and sexy and good fuel for the imagination. You look like you are striding purposefully into the other room (bedroom? kitchen?), expecting or hoping for "service". Actually, to be literal, you have shoes and a shirt so ....

[Right! Shirt, check. Shoes, check. So *technically* they'd have to let me in, right? :-) Thanks for your kind words, Kitty. --fl]

Figgie all I know is that they're not Birkies!!

[Oh dear, you know me too well then, eh? Actually I've never worn actual Birkies, but I'm addicted to Keens and Tevas which amount to the same thing only more outdoorsy. Thanks, Madame. --fl]

May I take your shoes, sir? HHNT!

This reminds me of a story about the philosopher Elizabeth Anscombe. As legend has it, the went out to a fancy restaurant with a bunch of colleagues wearing slacks (this was sometime in the 50, when slacks were not acceptable formal wear for women). The host informed her that the restaurant did not admit ladies wearing pants. So she took them off.

[Well there you go. I know there was a pretty fancy restaurant in my hometown that didn't let men who weren't wearing ties. The kicker, though, is that they had loaner clip-on ties. Go figure they wouldn't have loaner skirts. It's all pretty silly. Thanks, P! --fl]

Oh damn, what I wouldn't do to be those pair of shoes! Nice HNT!

[Wow. Thanks, Red! Happy HNT to you too. --fl]
