Cougars and kittens, women and wives

| | Comments (3)

Pardon the circular link reference but Ravenous of Ravenously Searching totally ran laps with my post about "cougars" from the other day.

What is this cougar crap? ... Why am I considered a predatory animal just because I am over 40, enjoy sex, and do not play mating games?

Read the rest of her post here.

The other points she makes in her post are just so cool but I really wanted to call out this one: "I don't want to be a wife--I want to be a partner that you choose to be with."

You really can't say it any clearer than that! And once it's said how the hell can you respect anyone who'd want anything less -- either as a wife or from one?

Thank you!! What can I say. . .you inspired me!

[Since maybe the kindest words on planet earth are "you inspired me" and you just said them I think I should be thanking, Ravenous! --fl]

First and last encounter, since before I was married. Man taken aback because I said I would have an empty refrigerator too. When I had to listen to his encounters with other women, one of which didn't cook or had food in the fridge.

They also assume that if your are predatory, you have no taste.

[Boy you said a mouthful, Five. I'm not sure why folks assume that if someone's got a big appetite they'll automatically eat whatever's in front of them. Thanks! --fl]

Hey figleaf,

Cougar. Yeah, now that I'm past 40 I seem to be getting that a lot. I'm also getting pursued by men who don't seem to give a crap about the fact I'm older. I can see some want the extra years on me, others just want me regardless of the years.

But then, I'm also in a very male-dominated career.

But the vocabulary of cougar is not one that people apply to me. Does one have to hunt in bars to have that label? Because I have to admit, I LIKE the younger men. A new taste. Perhaps I'm only just reaching the age and experience level where the younger men have enough of their own experience to be worth my while.

I'm just fine with guys being attracted to me for my age. After all, I've spent most of my life having them be attracted to me for my hair, or my breasts. How does my age become demeaning to me if it is found attractive by others? At this age I've got more to offer anyway, and the strength of confidence to take what is offered
without feeling demeaned by it.
