HNT - Quiet Cold

Wed, 2008-11-19 20:12

So while looking through my photos for something to illustrate yesterday’s post about Maymay and Eileen’s new project, Male Submission Art, I realized almost all the photos I’ve uploaded to Flickr tend to be pretty assertive — not necessarily dominating but at least actively inviting. That’s actually ok, I think, but after thinking about their site my photos all started looking a little one-note to me.

I’m coming down with a cold — must be November. I’ve been thinking about vulnerability and how to present it. Considering how I felt I thought these photos, taken in very low light, here’s my first attempt at mellowing out a little.

Happy HNT (or Half-nekkid Thursday!)

I've had a cold for awhile. I think it's going around.
Hope you get better soon.

Happy HNT!

[Thank you, Kate. Happy HNT to you too. --fl]

Gorgeous photos. I love the relaxation--which is, of course, inviting (if in a slightly different kind of way).

[Thank you, Ms. I. Hope you had a very happy Thursday. --fl]

That's a beautiful set, Figleaf - #6 is one of my favourites this week (and so will be in my roundup on Sunday). But really like the whole feel of the set.

(Hee! The captcha is 'expecting it'.)

[Wow, that's quite a complement, Dee. Thanks so much! --fl]

They capture the mood very well. I always feel vulnerable when my feet are the only things that are bare. Something to do with stubbing my toe once too often. :-) Happy HNT.

[Yup. As a little kid I remember being totally self-conscious when I took my shoes off. Probably for the same reason. Seems funny in retrospect considering how much I like to avoid shoes now. Thanks, LR, and happy HNT too you too. --fl]

Mellow is nice. The lighting does wonders. You have such nice arms.

I've got a bit of a cold as well. Hope you feel better soon!

Aww, I like the thought that we could have enough influence to "mellow" you out. ;)

For what it's worth, I've always really liked your photography of yourself. I'm not at all embarrassed to say that I think it's some of the best soft-core stuff on the blogs I follow. These, too, are really nice.

[I'm so glad you like them, May. You did have some influence. After I read you post I noticed I've got, like, a little bit of a strut or posturing in my photos that I probably only do when I'm posing for them. A lot of it comes sort of accidentally from turning my head out of camera range. And I don't mind doing it when I'm in a strutting or toppish mood. I just want to capture a more relaxed feel sometimes as well. Thanks for the nudge. -fl]
