Historic Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, a recreation of a town founded in 1699 might present itself as family friendly. But they’ve recreated historic bondage gear as well… in public no less!
I’m tellin’ ya, we might like to think kink is new. All that’s really new is the word “kink.” :-)

If the town was founded in 1699, then it would be 17th (or even 18th) century stocks and bonds - the 16th century came to an end 99 years earlier!
Oh yeah - and technically, the one you're shown in is a pillory.

[Teach me to post in a hurry. Yes, 1699 = 17th Century. And really, by the time these implements would have been located there it would have been the 18th Century.
