"You keep hitting on Athena."
"You can't blame me for trying!"
"Sure I can, it's your fault.  She certainly hasn't encouraged it."

Nicely said.

Update: For those unfamiliar with the reference, a rodeo clown's job is to run in front of a bull, distracting it while someone else gets out of the way.

Of course the insensitive, aspy dude has a UNIX beard... so many gender/nerd stereotypes at play here (not the least of which is the idea that awkward computer geeks all have the ability to grow beards).

Yup. The inside joke for Meyer's comics is that all his stock characters are based on photos of his close friends and family members. Over time it's probably more clear that his "Jenkins" character is obnoxiously self-absorbed but not Aspy. There is a low but non-zero chance that the real person is a techie, though, so it could still be a UNIX beard. As for the stereotype that all UNIX guys can grow beards I'd offer the stereotypical PFY as a counterexample. Finally, though, yes, the stereotypes are so thick they burn. Which is part of Meyer's "clip-art instruction manual" visual schtick" --fl
