Nudge, nudge, say no more about demanding anal sex

Query: Doesn’t Details Magazine, source of the infamous article about men “demanding” anal sex, sell into the same low-wage, lower pink-collar-worker class of men corresponding to, say, the women Cosmopolitan targets? If so then how much credibility do we give either the authors or the interviewees when it comes to the following claim?

For other men, the appeal of anal penetration is less the novelty—and the fact that it gives them a good story to tell over beers—and more the psychology. “For most of my friends, it’s sort of a domination thing,” says John (not his real name), 30, a writer in New York. “[It’s] basically getting someone in a position where they’re most vulnerable. My friends enjoy that and they tell their friends they did it.

Sorry. It doesn’t sound worldy, or manly, and certainly not studly. In fact despite all the butch language, more than anything they all sound sound a great deal like the Eric Idle character in the Monty Python “Nudge Nudge, Say No More” skit, below.

Which gentleman most closely resembles the average Details subscriber? Say no more.

Good Sunday afternoon Figleaf !
If you are with the RIGHT partner, anal sex is wonderful, and certainly doesn't have to be demanded, except when you are playing games, and it's all part of the psychological thrill.
So while I tend to think of it as a wholly willing act between two equal people simply loving the variety of it, it can also be part of playing a verbally submissive game to my love while he is dominating me...

[Right, Annie. The issue with the pooters in the article seems to be that they *want* it to be unpleasant for their partners! And you get the impression that if it *wasn't* unpleasant they'd dig in till they found something that was. Which (in my book anyway) suggests they're really *really* trying to prove their conviction that women don't like sex -- even if it means unconsciously cooking the books! Thanks. --fl]

Greeaaaaaaaaat ... now you've got THAT stuck in my head ("nudge, nudge, say no more").

[Perfect, Tam. I think if I can get it stuck in *everybody's* head as a tagline/reminder then we'll have one more powerful tool for distingishing *real* adult sex! As in when someone says something really knuckleheaded about how men or women are just "naturally" this way or that we can reply "say no more!" Thank you. --fl]

Ooooo, I don't know Figleaf, my own anal adventures (that is, recieving) have told good stories over ale.

;) Rups

[Interesting. Actually I might discuss something that happened to me, just not with any partner-identifying details. Thanks, Rupert. --fl]

I have known a few ladies too who take pride in telling these anal sex stories to their girl pals... Then again maybe they were just trying to impress me ;P
