[Before I started this blog I was pretty active in some sex-related discussion groups. Going through my notes I found this entry from August, 2002. —fl]
I had a facinating experience at the checkout stand this afternoon. The customer closest to the register was a pleasant woman with a lovely body, wearing tight jeans and a light, fairly tight green sweater. The customers in line between us were a young couple with their five-month-old baby in a stroller.
I realized I have a slight preference for goo-googling at babies to ogling women. Only a slight preference, mind you, but not how I was taught to expect men to behave.
I hope it’s ok to enjoy both sex and small children. It certainly feels good if for entirely different reasons.

[Note: Yes, I’m getting dressed again here but I had to put on the rest of the suit before I could take it all the way off. —fl]

I think it's a wonderful thing for a man to enjoy both babies and pretty women/sex. They're completely different things, but both bring joy and pleasure. It always warms my heart when a man goo-goos at my little girl. Hell, she gets more attention from good-looking men than I do (not the pervy kind, mind you, just 'oh, look at those beautiful curls' kind). Oh, oh, and? If you're from the South (which i got the feeling maybe you were?), you're more prone to enjoy babies. At least that's been my experience.
[I don't know if it's a southern thing or not. Guys from up north or out west might be more chicken to admit it but I think they like 'em just as much. --fl]

I don't think I have a preference as such. I do enjoy both activities, as you say for very different reasons.
I'm glad Lydia takes the attitude that guys can "goo-goo" legitimately at a baby without being automatically being regarded as creepy.
If I was a woman pushing her bundle of joy round the supermarket, I'd be suspicious of a strange man taking too much interest. Sad reflection on a tiny minority in society tainting it for the rest of us.
[Yeah, I always make sure I make eye contact with the parents first. (It's easier having had my own, and was even easier when I was carrying them.) --fl]

Goo goo away. I think women like it when people appreciate their creations. I do so long as isn't creepy.
Goose
[Nah, I do the goo-goo thing in total Dad mode. --fl]

One of the sexiest, loveliest things is to see how much Spadix adores our baby, how genuine that is. It isn't self-conscious, isn't him trying to impress me (or her) - it just is, and I find that terrifically sexy, and all the more so because it's something he'd do whether I found it hot or not. Men who genuinely like babies are hot hot hot.
